Conversion of north bus depot
The northern bus depot of Kölner Verkehrsbetriebe is home to around 250 buses, including the main and depot workshops as well as the administration and transport service buildings. As part of the conversion of the vehicle fleet to electric drives, the depot is being extensively remodelled while bus operations continue. The core of the measure is the reorganisation of bus parking and the installation of charging infrastructure for 120 buses with a charging capacity of up to 450 kW. For space reasons, the charging technology will be housed in an elevated technology bar above the bus parking area, and the vehicles will be supplied by means of vehicle-side pantographs and charging bonnets on steel crossbeams.
In addition, the bus wash hall will be extensively rebuilt and refurbished for the new generation of vehicles, the vehicle workshop will be extended and the transport service building will be gutted, refurbished and extended by a 2-storey extension.
