i2030 - Reactivation of the Siemens railway
As part of the i2030 project, the states of Berlin and Brandenburg, DB InfraGO and VBB are planning to improve the metropolitan region's rail infrastructure. One of the sub-projects is the reactivation of the historic, double-track S-Bahn line of the Siemensbahn with a length of around 4.5 km in the Berlin districts of Spandau and Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf.
The reactivation of the existing line between Jungfernheide and Gartenfeld stations is intended to provide a fast connection between the future ‘Siemensstadt 2.0’ project and the main railway station and Berlin Brandenburg Airport.
KREBS+KIEFER is involved in this forward-looking and complex project in an engineering consortium together with Sweco and is taking on the technical lead, the deputy overall project management and the deputy overall BIM coordination of the contractor.
